Ms. Gloria is an amputee who lives alone in the home she has owned for more than 40 years.

Our friends with the Triangle Sales and Marketing Council of North Carolina chose Ms. Gloria’s project for their annual Big Give Back sponsorship and volunteer event. With their help, we made numerous repairs and accessibility modifications including new flooring, bathroom upgrades, exterior handrails, and a ramp.

“I used to have to think-step as I walked over that old, worn out carpet,” said Ms. Gloria.

“I had to think first, then step carefully to avoid falls,” she explained. “Now I can get around much more easily.”

She’s especially excited about her new ramp.

“I used to lie awake at night worrying how I would get out in an emergency,” she told us. “Now I can sleep through the night.”
